The Nᵊtzâr•im concur with the statement of former Ireland Chief Rabbi and Honorary Advisor on Interfaith Relations to the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and former Senior Rabbi of the largest Orthodox Jewish congregation in South Africa (The Green and Sea Point Hebrew Congregation, Cape Town), having served as a judge on the Cape Beth Din (Rabbinic Court.), Orthodox David Rosen, below, and applaud him for making it:

"The American Jewish Committee's Rabbi David Rosen contends that it's possible to believe that Jesus is the messiah and still be Jewish. 'It may be strange, but it is no stranger than the belief of some Jews that their rebbe was the messiah,' says Rosen, referring to the Lubavitch followers' view of the late Rabbi Schneerson. "In both cases, we're talking about people who are still Jews," says Rosen, intemational director of inter-religious affairs for the AJC-Israel office.

" 'However,' adds Rosen, 'if a person believes that Jesus is divine, that he is part of the Holy Trinity, and that salvation comes through belief in Jesus, then these beliefs are incompatible with Judaism. Such people should come clean and describe themselves as Christians.' Rosen also contends that Messianic congregations 'are intentionally misleading and duplicitous, since they represent a belief system that is in conflict with Judaism, but use Jewish observance to make the potential convert feel comfortable in a familiar Jewish environment.' "
