2000.05.30 Ma•a•rivꞋ, 3rd editorial – Two papers analyze yesterday's 2-1 ruling by a High Court of Justice panel that the Interior Ministry must register two women – one who gave birth to the child and her lesbian partner who legally adopted him in California – as the mothers of a 4 year-old boy:
While, "It is possible to understand Supreme Court Judge Mahmoud Zouabi who opposed requiring the Interior Ministry to register two mothers for one child yesterday," his two colleagues, "gave practical expression – in their decision – to the understanding that legal obstacles must not be placed in the way of the longing of two human beings to live their lives together as they wish."
ha-Tzoph•ëhꞋ condemns the decision and says that, "not only is it astonishing but it contradicts the rules which define the concept of a spousal relationship as being between a man and a woman, including the parental relationship vis-à-vis their offspring." The editors believe that the ruling strikes at traditional Jewish concepts of the family and aligns the High Court, "alongside the perverts."
The Nᵊtzâr•imꞋ concur with the NRP view; love the women but loathe their to•eiv•âhꞋ immorality… and I pity the poor 4-year-old boy under their influence.
