שלום פקיד ירמיהו, הצדיק

תודה רה פקיד ירמיהו for the comments on the wrong spelling כברותא ( a typo as I forgot to delete the ר before the א) and הנביא.

Kol ha-kâ•vod on your persistence; it's חברותא (and רבה after תודה).

I would like some advice/help on keeping תישעה באב and the coming nine days before it. I am aware of the צום part but a bit confused about the mourning practices on the nine days (sitting on the floor, not wearing leather, not trimming the hair and beard—all of which I got from the Chabad site) as I am not sure what the בית דין הנצרים teaches on this. Are they the same or different?

You can always find such information by going to our Calendar page or Pâ•râsh•âh page (via our Beit ha-kᵊnësët link in the directory at left) and clicking on the appropriate links. If no different Tei•mân•i practice is noted there, then it's not different than the practice of other Orthodox denominations.

Be aware that Kha•bad are Ultra-Orthodox. Ultra-Orthodox, particularly Kha•reid•im, are, to various degrees, extremist, radical and fanatical – often including their dress. We, and the Tei•mân•im, are Orthodox (i.e., moderate), not Ultra-Orthodox. Accordingly, some of the things you'll find in Kha•bad are more extreme or fanatic that you'd find in a Tei•mân•i or moderate (Modern) Orthodox Beit ha-kᵊnësët.

So far I have kept all the fasts, celebrated פורים modestly on my own with my family, kept פסח and כג המצות with my family (I have taken pictures), counted the עמר, celebrated לג בעמר (another modest meal with just my family), kept כג השבועות and as stated above preparing for תישעה באב. I have also fasted on the fast of Tammuz. I always look forward to candle lighting and שהת and almost always feel a little sad that I have to do הבדלה and start another work week. As much as I can I try to involve my wife and seven daughters in all the celebrations and כגים and שהת. It is sad that for the most part the liturgy I have obtained online (with ease I might add) is from the Ashkenazic tradition of Chabad Lubavitch. I have tried to infuse as much תימני traditions into my practice by adopting more תימני recipes and some tradition (we ate on a low table on פסח). I would like to adopt the תימני way in תפלה.

Any help to improve my practice would be most welcome. Again תדה.

Kol ha-kâ•vod for having implemented as best you knew. Applauding

Like every "newbie," you need to obtain, and consult regularly, an עברית-English dictionary to check your spelling (e.g., חג, שבת, תודה). One thing the dictionaries usually don't make very clear is that, like acronyms, single-digit numbers are followed by an apostrophe (e.g., = ‭ ‬ 5 as well as an abbreviation for ha-Sheim) and multi-digit numbers have a double-quote between the last two digits (e.g. התשע"ב, this year, ביה"כ (beit ha-kᵊnësët ) and ל"ג ‭ ‬ = 33).

The best thing you can do for your practice is to complete our Kha•vᵊr•utâ – and defer your questions until after you've finished. Keep up the good work.
